Kyle flies the flag for Britain

Council worker Kyle Keyworth will be flying the flag for Britain when he competes in the upcoming World Para Athletics Championships (8-17 July).

The 26-year-old sprinter is heading to Paris to race in the T35 category of the 100m and 200m.

Bury resident Kyle, who has cerebral palsy, is a business support apprentice at Bury Council where he has worked since November 2021.

It’s the first time Kyle has been called up to the Great Britain and Northern Ireland squad at the World Games, although he has previously represented the country at the European Championships in Berlin in 2018.

“I am very excited and feel very privileged and grateful to be called up to represent my country,” he said. “It is something I have dreamed of doing since I started in the sport, so it is an honour to get the chance to represent Great Britain and do it on one of the biggest stages.”

Kyle has been racing for six years and is a member of Manchester Harriers & Athletic Club.
