​Labour retain Bury East ward in by-election

Gavin McGill retained East ward for Labour in today’s (Thursday 16 August) Bury Council by-election.

The result in full:

  • Nicole Haydock (Green Party)……77
  • Gavin McGill (Labour Party)…..1,419
  • Andy Minty (Liberal Democrats)…..49
  • Sohail Raja (Conservative Party)……557
  • Angela Zwierzanski (UK Independence Party)……107

The turnout was 26%. The line-up on Bury Council remains at: Labour 31 seats, Conservatives 17, and Liberal Democrats 3.
