Made in Bury – rewarding our community heroes

Outstanding individuals and groups will receive a big ‘thank you’ in the 4th annual Made in Bury Community Awards.

Residents are being asked to nominate their community champions, and the winners will be presented with their certificates at the annual meeting of Bury Council on 18 May.

There are four categories:

* Outstanding Contribution to a Township (single award)

* Young Person and/or Young Person’s Group – outstanding community contribution (25 or under)

* Volunteer of the Year Award

* Good Neighbour Award

All nominees must live, work, study or volunteer within the borough of Bury.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 22 April, and the decisions will be made by a judging panel chaired by Councillor Jane Lewis, cabinet member for communities.

Cllr Lewis said: “We all know people who make an outstanding contribution to their area, and it’s only right that we publicly thank them for their commitment and achievements.

“The terrible floods on Boxing Day showed just how strong community spirit is in Bury, when people across the borough joined together to help their fellow residents through an unprecedented crisis.

“There are thousands of volunteers and caring people in Bury who work tirelessly to support their fellow man and woman, so please let us know who you think is most deserving of a Made in Bury award.”
