Make your change with I Will if You Will

Saturday 8 March is International Women’s Day and this year’s theme is ‘Inspiring Change’.

The I Will if You Will movement wants Bury women and girls aged 14+ to make the change with them and get a bit more active by trying something new, doing something for themselves for once and having a laugh while they do it.

To help inspire this change to get moving, I Will if You Will is offering Bury ladies the chance to bring a friend for free to selected I Will if You Will activities. Vouchers will be shared via the I Will if You Will website, Twitter and Facebook, will be available to download from 8 to 15 March and must be used by 5 April 2014.

Sessions cost no more than £4 and as long as the friend you bring with you hasn’t previously attended they can join in for free. Download the voucher at http://www.iwillifyouwill.co.uk/lets-celebrate-international-womens-day/

While visiting the website women and girls can also have a look at the Activity A-Z to find activities they might like to try and, if they want to, make a pledge to give exercise a go to share with friends.

Councillor Jane Lewis, cabinet member for leisure, tourism and culture, said: “Don’t miss out on your chance to treat your friend for free to an I Will if You Will activity session. There are loads to choose from at a variety of local venues and I feel sure you and your friend will be hooked once you get a bit of ‘me time’ and try something new together.

“As soon as I can I’m going to dip my toes in at the new mobile swimming pool at Broad Oak Sports College. What will you try? Zumba, a walk, a jog, or yoga, maybe?  Whatever it is, it’s got to be worth a try - what have you got to lose?  I Will if You Will!”

I Will If You Will is a movement to get the women and girls of Bury moving. With National Lottery funding from Sport England and being delivered by Bury Council, it’s about women getting together and trying something new, doing something for themselves for a change and having  a laugh while they do it.

Best practice from Bury will be used to inform strategy to help increase the number of women participating in sport across the country.
