Mayor launches annual Poppy Appeal in Bury
Bury residents are being urged to support this year’s Poppy Appeal, which has been launched by the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Noel Bayley.
Every year, the British Royal Legion organises an appeal to commemorate those who died in past conflicts and raise funds to support the armed forces.
Poppies are available at locations across the borough or can be ordered from the British Royal Legion's website.
Cllr Bayley said: “As Mayor of Bury, I am honoured to support the launch of this year’s Poppy Appeal. Each November, our community comes together to remember the brave men and women who have served, sacrificed, and stood for peace and freedom across generations.
“The poppy is a powerful reminder of the courage shown by those in our armed forces, past and present. It also represents our collective commitment to ensuring that veterans and their families receive the care and support they deserve.
“I encourage everyone across Bury to wear their poppy with pride, attend our remembrance events, and contribute to the appeal in any way they can. Your support helps the Royal British Legion continue its vital work in providing assistance to those who have given so much for our country.”
