Mayor’s visit makes radio waves

Bury’s civic head took to the airwaves to praise the hard work and commitment of Northern Air Hospital Radio.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Michelle Wiseman, and her daughter and mayoress Danielle joined
volunteers who run the hospital radio which broadcasts to North Manchester General and Salford Royal hospitals.

They accepted an invitation from presenter Phil Salter and spent two hours chatting, reading out requests and even managed to get some of their own requests played.

Cllr Wiseman said: “We had a great time. The studios are well equipped and the dedication and
professionalism of the volunteers is a credit to all involved. Like all voluntary organisations today they are keen to get younger volunteers, which would be an ideal opportunity for those looking to make a career in the media.”
