Press release -

More roads resurfaced thanks to extra council investment

A number of road resurfacing schemes are about to start thanks to the council’s extra £10 million for roadworks announced in the budget.

Ten streets in Bury will be upgraded under the Highways Investment Strategy, with work taking place between 8 July and 15 September.

The resurfacing work will take place along sections of: Walmersley Road; Gigg Lane; Market Street; Wellington Road; Spring Street; George Street; Huntley Mount Road; Bell Lane; Knowsley Street; and Walshaw Road.

More details of the works, and any traffic restrictions or road closures, are on the council’s website: https://www.bury.gov.uk/roadworks

Councillor Rishi Shori, leader of Bury Council, said: “We recognised that our roads needed more money spending on them, which is why we announced an extra £10 million for highways improvements last year, and another £10 million extra to follow that. This latest set of works will cost around £1.5 million alone, and I’m sure that residents will welcome this investment.”
