Press release -

New Restart grants to help businesses get going after Covid-19

Restart grants are now available to help businesses re-open safely as coronavirus measures are eased across the country.

They are aimed at firms such as shops, pubs and gyms who can open their doors again when restrictions are lifted on 12 April in the latest phase of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown.

There are two types of grant payments available:

  • Restart grants for non-essential retail businesses. Depending on your business’s rateable value, grant payments will be either £2,667, £4,000 or £6,000.
  • Restart grants for hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses. Again, depending on rateable value, grants will be £8,000, £12,000 or £18,000.

More information about which types of businesses fall into the eligible categories is here: https://www.bury.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=16082

You can find out the rateable value of your premises on your latest business rates bill, or at https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-business-rates

Details of how to apply for a grant are on the council’s website here: https://www.bury.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=16063
