Nominate a local sporting hero for an award

There’s still time to nominate an individual or club for this year’s Bury Sports Awards, which take place on Friday 13 September at Radcliffe Civic Suite.

The evening aims to recognise and reward those who make an outstanding contribution to local sport, and highlight sporting achievements over the last 12 months.

There are seven categories, and the winners will represent Bury at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.

Categories are:

* Coach of the Year

* Club of the Year

* Volunteer of the Year

* Unsung Hero

* Sports Achiever of the Year

* Disabled Sports Achiever of the Year

* Young Leader Award (this is a Bury award only)

The deadline for nominations is 2 August. To nominate someone, go to www.bury.gov.uk/sportsdevelopment or www.greatersport.co.uk/awards. Alternatively, pick up a form at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury.

There will also be fivespecial recognition awards: for Prestwich, Radcliffe, primary schools, secondary schools, and a Changing Lifestyle award.

The awards are run byBury Sport and Physical Activity Service and Radcliffe and Bury South Sports Forum.
