On tour - I Will If You Will fitness parties!

During May and June the I Will if You Will movement is hosting fitness parties at the Longfield Suite, Ramsbottom Civic Hall and Broad Oak Sports College.

The parties follow on from a successful event at Castle Leisure Centre over the Easter holidays.

Julie Porter, Bury Leisure studio instructor and I Will if You Will champion, said: “The I Will If You Will fitness parties are loads of fun and a great way for us ladies to get together, try something new and find out what we like best.

“With 20-minute sessions of Belrobics, Zumba, Piloxing, Metafit and Burlesque you’ll be able to try some great activities in a relaxed environment all in one place. So why not come along and give exercise a whirl? Bring your mates too!”

Emma Griffiths, who took part in the Castle Leisure Centre party, said: “I came along with my mum and we had a great time together. We tried Belrobics for the first time and my mum really enjoyed its more relaxed pace.

“Everyone who came had a great laugh, and the instructors were brilliant - they go step by step for each activity and talk you through it so it doesn’t matter if you’ve never done it before. With three more parties coming up, I’d advise anyone to give it a go - you’ve got nothing to lose, everything to gain and you’re sure to find something you love. I’m definitely going again.”

Two of the parties, on 11 May at the Longfield Suite and on 1 June at Broad Oak, are for ladies only;
but husbands, dads, boyfriends, sons and brothers are all welcome to join in at the Ramsbottom Civic Hall party on 18 May. At Broad Oak, fitness party participants will also get the chance to try out the mobile pool.

Each fitness party starts at 1pm and finishes at 3pm. Tickets are only £2 and all newcomers are welcome. For more information phone 0161 253 5893 or email iwillifyouwill@bury.gov.uk

I Will If You Will is a movement to get the women and girls of Bury moving. With National Lottery funding from Sport England and being delivered by Bury Council, it’s about women getting together and trying something new, doing something for themselves for a change and having a laugh while they do it. About the fitness party activities:

Belrobics is a class combining belly dancing with a fitness workout.

Zumba fuses dance and aerobics. It’s a fitness celebration.

Piloxing is a combination of Pilates and boxing, cleverly combined with easy to follow dance steps. Low impact, but, high intensity work-out.

Metafit is interval training, using body weight and short bursts of intense activity. Great if you’re already active and want to take your fitness to the next level. But you can work at your own pace and choose the options which suit you best.

Burlesque - elegant, simple and easy to follow choreography with glamour and grace.

About the mobile pool at Broad Oak:

I Will If You Will have teamed up with Total Swimming to bring a new mobile pool to Bury right at the
heart of the community in East Bury. The pool is open 7 days a week for swimming lessons, aqua fit, family fun and ladies only sessions.

The pool measures 12m x 6m and is 1 metre deep, the perfect depth for both swimming and aqua fit. The pool temperature is a warm 30 degrees.
