On your Doorstep – sports sessions for young people

A new multi-sports club invites young people aged 12-16 to come along and take part in weekly sessions.

The Doorstep club runs every Thursday at Outwood Youth Club in Radcliffe, situated at King George’s playing fields in Outwood Road, from 7pm to 8.30pm. Each session costs just 50p, and there’s no need to book – just turn up.

The Doorstep sessions are designed to give young people quality sporting activities at low cost, and without having to pay membership fees. They have been put together by Bury Sport and Physical Activity Service, Greater Sport Doorstep Club, and Outwood Youth Club.

More dance workshops are also being planned, and people who attend the Doorstep club will also be offered the chance to visit the mobile pool at Broad Oak High School and go on day outings such as canoeing, mountain biking, and cycling.

  • If you have a passion for working with young people, or would like
to gain experience working with young people, Outwood Youth Club always
welcomes new volunteers. All volunteers will receive free DBS training and
training opportunities will be available. No experience necessary. There
are opportunities to volunteer on Thursday evenings (5–8.30pm) or, if you
cannot volunteer all evening, either 5–6.30pm or 7–8.30pm.
