Press release -

Open Day at the new Bury Fire Station

Bury Fire Station is opening its doors to the public for their first official station Open Day on the Saturday 31 August, since crews were relocated from the well known Fire Station on The Rock.

Watch Manager Steve Wilcock, who is organising this free event, said: “It will be a great opportunity for members of the public, both young and old, to visit our new station and find out more about the role of the Fire & Rescue Service here in Bury. The Fire Engines will be fully accessible for young children to climb on board and explore, as well as being an exciting opportunity to squirt water like real Fire fighters!”

There will be a live demonstration of a simulated car crash with the Fire Fighters showing techniques on how they use the specialised equipment to rescue casualties out of vehicles.

There will also be some of the more obscure Fire services’ vehicles available to look round such as the Heavy Rescue Tender and the Aerial Appliances.

There will be lots of other attractions and stalls from all over Bury, a fairground ride for young children, Vintage Police cars, ice-creams, with lots to do and see.

Steve went on to say that since the move to their ‘new home’, which is relatively hidden behind the police station, members of the public often ask how they are settling in? This a great and exciting opportunity to see for themselves. The doors open at 11am through to 3pm.
