Operator sought for new Radcliffe Enterprise Centre

Support for local small businesses is another step nearer following the council’s decision to procure an operator for the new Radcliffe Enterprise Centre.

The £2.7 million enterprise centre is being created in the existing Radcliffe Library building. It will include meeting, co-working and office space and will provide much needed employment space in Radcliffe town centre.

The centre is an important part of the wider £40m regeneration of Radcliffe town centre, which will include a new multi-use Civic Hub, a renovated Market Chambers and improved public realm. The Civic Hub, which will house a new library and leisure facilities, will be completed in mid-2026.

The enterprise centre operator would take on responsibility for managing the centre as a commercial entity, as well as maintaining the building. They would also be required to deliver a programme of business support from the centre.

The Eric Wright Group is the construction contractor, and work is due to be completed in November 2025.

Across the borough, Bury has a lack of employment space. The council receives an average of 25 requests for land/office space each month, but there are insufficient facilities to meet these requests. The new enterprise centre will provide occupancy for up to 50 people and will provide a new and attractive town centre office location.

Councillor Eamonn O’Brien, leader of the council, said: “Everyone can see the new Civic Hub going up, which will host, among many attractions, a new and bigger library.

“But regeneration is not just about buildings; it’s about providing the right conditions for local businesses to flourish or just to get started.

“The new Enterprise Centre aims to do just that, creating much-needed space for small and medium companies to become established and contribute to the economic prosperity of the borough.”

The council will appoint the operator later this year.
