Over the Rainbow – hundreds enjoy Bury Pride

More people than ever enjoyed Bury Pride, the town’s annual festival of fun which celebrates equality and diversity.

Now in its tenth year, it boasted a day of concerts and activities at the town hall on Saturday, headlined by S Club. Then on Sunday, passengers on a sold-out Rainbow Train travelled on the East Lancs Railway between Bury and Rawtenstall.

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Jane Black, led the traditional Walking Rainbow parade through the town centre. She said: “I was so excited to be asked to lead Bury Pride’s Walking Rainbow parade this year as mayor, having attended in previous years. The message that Bury Pride sends is clear - one of positivity, inclusion and a celebration of everybody for their individuality. All this brings benefits for the people and the town of Bury.

“I thank all those staff, businesses and volunteers who have made this event such a huge success.”
