Pitch perfect – another 33 community groups win funding

More than 1,200 local residents had their say in allocating the latest round of Let’s Do It Neighbourhood Pitch community funding.

The North and West Neighbourhood Pitch events were postponed in December 2021 due to the rise of the Omicron variant, but earlier this month events were held in Ramsbottom and Radcliffe in which hundreds of people voted in person as 35 community groups showcased their projects.

As well as casting their votes on which projects to support, people were also able to find out more about local activities and enjoy networking.

Bury Council, as part of its Let’s Do It strategy, has now awarded £890,000 in the last year through Neighbourhood Pitch events, Health Improvement Funding and Climate Action monies.

Councillor Richard Gold, cabinet member for communities, said: “Voluntary and community groups across the borough play a vital role in local life. I’m delighted that so many local people have had their say in Pitch activity across the borough as part of Bury Council investing over three-quarters of a million pounds into local good causes.”

The West Pitch also provided the opportunity for local residents to access advice and guidance from the Citizens Advice Bureau, Bury Adult Learning on digital inclusion and Energyworks on home energy measures.
