Radcliffe primary school gets £2 million boost

Radcliffe Hall/CE Methodist Primary School is set to benefit from a £2 million refurbishment bringing new classrooms and modernisation.

The school was built in 1865, with more modern additions made in 1945 and 1975.  Bury Council
commissioned a feasibility study which identified five main elements to be addressed:

· Demolition and replacement of the existing poor condition modular classrooms, circulation link and the kitchen block

· Construct a new kitchen/dining/hall block

· Develop a new school entrance

· Remodel the internal layout where feasible

· General upgrade of condition

The council’s cabinet recently approved the project, and is now working with the school on drawing up designs and a timescale for the work.

Councillor Mike Connolly, leader of the council, said: “I am delighted that the cabinet has approved this £2 million plan which will see major parts of the school completely rebuilt and refurbished. We all want to provide the best surroundings in which our children can learn and get the best start in life, and I’m sure this project will be warmly welcomed by pupils, staff and parents alike.”
