​Raising the flag for the Commonwealth

Bury’s civic leaders joined communities across the land in flying the flag for the Commonwealth.

Local authorities and residents throughout the British Isles took part in events to mark Commonwealth Day last Monday (13 March).

The Mayor of Bury, Councillor Mike Connolly, read out a special Commonwealth Affirmation and a message from Her Majesty the Queen when the flag was raised outside Knowsley Place in Bury.
