Road improvements in October

Main roads in Radcliffe and Prestwich are to be resurfaced in the latest phase of the council’s highway improvement programme.

The works will involve:

Bolton Road, Radcliffe - between Unsworth Street and Wordsworth Avenue.

Work is planned to begin on 17 October and finish by 28 October. The work will be carried out between 9.30 and 4pm under temporary signals, and the road will be fully closed to through traffic between 24 and 28 October. This has been timed to co-incide with the school holidays. The road will be open outside of these hours.

Sheepfoot Lane, Prestwich – between Middleton Road and 62 Sheepfoot Lane.

Work begins on 17 October and runs until 21 October. The work will be undertaken between 9.30 and 4pm when the road will be closed to through traffic. The road will be open outside of these times.

In both cases, residents and business owners are asked not to park on these stretches of road between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.

Please be aware that these dates are subject to change due to factors such as the weather.

The council apologises for any inconvenience caused during these works, but will try to keep disruption to a minimum.

Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, climate change and operations, said: “Everyone wants the roads to be in good condition, which is why we’ve put an extra £30 million into our highways improvement budget over the last nine years.

"We should receive around £6m per annum for our 660km highway network, but since 2010 we've only received around £2m per year."
