School children to help Mayor travel to Victorian times

Pupils from Greenhill Primary School are being taken back in time and taking the Mayor with them on Thursday 14 March 2013.  As part of the ‘Victorian Variety’ offered by The Fusilier Museum, Bury Art Museum and Bury Transport Museum, pupils will discover what life was like more than 100 years ago.

The visit will allow pupils to explore the museums of Bury and understand military might, industry and society and trade and transport. The ‘Victorian Variety’ is open to all primary schools and has been successfully running for three years.

Sarah Evans, arts business manager at Bury Art Museum, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Mayor and Greenhill Primary School. Both will have to be prepared to meet Florence Nightingale, undertake a Victorian military drill, handle real objects from Victorian times and obey the stern authority of a Victorian lady.”

For further information about the ‘Victorian Variety’ offer contact Daniel Jessop at The Fusilier Museum on 0161 763 8950.
