Secondary School Placements 2024

1st March is National Offer Day when parents learn the outcome of secondary school applications. E-mails will be sent to all of those applying online, with letters notifying all other applicants.

From 2,359 applicants, 1,965 pupils will be heading to their first-choice school in September.

In line with 2023, 92% of pupils will receive an offer for their first or second-choice school.

In addition, and for the 2024 intake only, separate applications were made for places at the new Star Academy Radcliffe that opens its doors to pupils from September. 164 parents have applied for a place at the new school.

All parents will receive an offer of a place on the 1st March, with the parents applying for a place at Star Radcliffe receiving an additional offer from Star.

Councillor Lucy Smith, cabinet member for children and young people, said “Last year we reviewed our admissions policy to ensure that more young people are able to attend their first choice of school. I look forward to seeing our young people thrive throughout their education.”
