Shakers play up for cancer awareness

Press release -

Shakers play up for cancer awareness

Players from Bury FC will be promoting the importance of leading a healthy life as part of a cancer awareness campaign.

They will be visiting Radcliffe Library on Thursday 29 November (12.30-1pm), accompanied by CAPED (Community Action to Promote Early Detection of cancer).

This is a national campaign by the NHS to raise awareness and early detection of lung cancer which claims more than 28,000 lives a year and has one of the lowest survival rates. It aims to persuade people who are worried if they have cancer to visit their GP as soon as possible, as more lives could be saved with an early diagnosis.

The players and members of CAPED will be on hand to answer any questions about leading a healthy lifestyle and cancer awareness.

Visit the NHS website www.bury.nhs.uk for further information on health matters.
