The big vote is here for Bury West and North community groups

Residents are invited to hear about the great work done by community groups and vote to allocate them council funding.

No fewer than 18 organisations in Bury West have applied for cash through the Let’s Do It Together Neighbourhood Pitch fund, and 17 in Bury North.

Neighbourhood Pitch funding has been made available by Bury Council to support projects which will benefit Covid recovery in their neighbourhood as part of the borough’s Let’s Do It!Strategy. Through this there is the opportunity to develop every neighbourhood to be better and stronger by tackling the causes of inequality and ensuring good life chances for all.

The two upcoming Pitch events are as follows:

• Bury North (covering Ramsbottom, Tottington, North Manor and Elton) – Sunday 27 February (2-4pm). Venue: Ramsbottom Community Church, Carr Street (opposite the library)

• Bury West (Church ward, Radcliffe North, Radcliffe West and Radcliffe East) – Saturday 5 March (1-3pm). Venue: Radcliffe Market Hall.

Voting has already taken place in the Bury East, Whitefield and Prestwich townships which resulted in 30+ community groups collecting a total of £130,000.

Councillor Richard Gold, cabinet member for communities, said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to support an array of different community projects which will support recovery in our neighbourhoods.

“Bury Council’s Neighbourhood Pitch initiative has seen hundreds of people in each part of the borough have their say on how best to support local priorities as we collectively respond to the impact of the pandemic.

“These events are a great way to showcase local projects and provide further opportunities for residents to find out more about the projects and how they can get involved with them.”
