The new Bury Directory – your gateway to services, information and advice

Helping people to help themselves – that’s the motto of the newly relaunched Bury Directory, a one-stop-shop for local information.

The website (www.theburydirectory.co.uk) has been completely redesigned by the council’s social development team, taking on board the views of local professionals and residents on what they would like to see on the site and how it could be improved.

Among many areas, the directory contains information about:

  • Ageing Well: Activities, information and advice for the over-55s
  • Childcare and Families support
  • Health and Wellbeing advice
  • Home, Housing and Money: Including benefits, housing and recycling
  • Learning, Volunteering and Employment: Including schools, colleges, adult education, training and apprenticeships
  • Leisure and Recreation: Including sport, activities, hobbies, things to do and places to go
  • Local Community events
  • Local Offer (SEND) and Disabilities support
  • Partner Area: Information for Team Bury staff including Early Help
  • Staying Safe and Safeguarding: Including accident prevention and crime
  • Support for Carers
  • VCFA Hub: Bury’s Voluntary, Community, Faith Alliance intranet area
  • Councillor Tamoor Tariq, cabinet member for communities and safer neighbourhoods, said: “The Bury Directory is an invaluable tool to help residents get information and support on a huge range of issues that are important to them. Thanks to the input of people who use the directory, the new website is far more user-friendly and is even more helpful than before. I urge people to have a look at it and see what it can do for them.”
