Time is running out for businesses in Bury to apply for coronavirus support grants

Businesses in Bury struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic are being reminded that grants are available to support them financially but time is running out to apply.

Local restrictions Support Grants are available to those who are liable for business rates and have been restricted from operating because of local and national lockdowns.

The level of grant will vary dependant on whether the business was open or closed during set eligibility periods and the rateable value of the premises.

Closed Business Lockdown Payments are also available which are a one-off payment for any business that has been forced to close from 5 January 2021.

The council is now calling on businesses to apply before it is too late. The deadline for applications is 31 March 2021 to be considered for a grant from 5 January 2021, and the schemes will close for payments on the 30 April 2021.

Councillor Eamonn O’Brien, Leader of the Council said: “The coronavirus pandemic has had a detrimental impact on many businesses in Bury who were once thriving but are now struggling financially.

“These businesses are facing incredibly challenging circumstances and this grant could be a lifeline.

“My advice is this – do not delay, apply now – filling in the form to check if you’re eligible only takes a few minutes.”
