Top tips to recycle around the Christmas tree

Recycle for Greater Manchester (R4GM) have made it easy for you to recycle this Christmas by  sharing their Christmas hints and tips to help you to waste less and recycle more over the festive season.  You could even win a prize.

The Christmas tree advent calendar on www.recycleforgreatermanchester.com/christmas will reveal a handy tip behind the 24 baubles in the run up to Christmas. Behind each bauble may be an instant prize, there are four up for grabs.

Tips include where to donate old bikes and toys, tasty recipes that use up all of your leftover turkey as well as where to recycle your Christmas tree when it’s all over.

Tina Harding, Communications Officer at R4GM, said: “We know how much hard work goes into making Christmas a memorable time.  There’s so much to remember, so recycling may not seem like a high priority, however it’s actually the perfect time to be on top of your recycling. We want to encourage householders to visit our website where all the information about their local recycling services is readily available.  Our quick hints and tips in our online Christmas calendar really show how simple actions can save residents money, proving that we can have a very merry wasteless Christmas.”

When it is time for the post-Christmas tidy up, the 20 Recycling Centres across Greater Manchester will be open on Boxing Day, usual weekday opening hours from 8am -6pm, except for Salford Road which is open from 10am- 4pm on Boxing Day.
