Veterans and their families invited to Armed Forces conference in Bury
Residents are invited to an Armed Forces Covenant Conference to discuss - and discover - the help available in Bury to veterans and their families.
It is held at the Fusilier Museum in Moss Street, Bury on Tuesday 16 September from 10am to 2pm (light lunch provided).
The event will showcase the work that valued local community groups and networks in Bury do, and the work of public services on delivering their Covenant duties.
There will be updates from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and a chance to shape the GM Live Well programme to best support veterans and armed forces families. There will also be an opportunity to influence national support programmes including VALOUR with the Office for Veterans Affairs.
The event is open to all members of the Armed Forces community including friends and family; voluntary and community colleagues who support armed forces and veterans locally; public service colleagues delivering on Covenant duties; and businesses looking to learn more and connect into support to communities.
To register your attendance at the event, email armedforces@bury.gov.uk or go to the website https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1595655250809?aff=oddtdtcreator
Councillor Sandra Walmsley, cabinet member for communities and inclusion, said: “Our armed forces veterans have given so much, and it’s vital that we do everything we can to support them.
“I encourage everyone to attend the conference, connect with service providers, and access the help available.
“We offer comprehensive support for veterans and service personnel, from housing and healthcare to employment opportunities. For full details, please visit: www.bury.gov.uk/armed-forces-personnel.”
