Women in Football Screening & Q&A

As part of the Going to the Match exhibition, Bury Art Museum are screening “Granny” an award-winning short film that celebrates the life of the Dick Kerr Ladies football team star of the early 20th century, Lizzy Ashcroft on 13th November 2.30pm – 3.30pm.

Join us for an afternoon of conversation with Sophia Sanderson, Laura Myles & Alicia Dale, women who love The Beautiful Game. Hear inspiring thoughts on the legacy of women's football, where it started, where we are now and where we hope to be in the future.

Sophia Sanderson, Founder of Women of Colour and The Beautiful Game

Founder of 'Women of Colour and The Beautiful Game' a Manchester based grassroot initiative supporting women of Colour to play football both casually and competitively. ‘I'm the coach and Manager of the first all Women of Colour football team in Manchester to have entered into any league The Beautiful Gamers FC. A Man City womens season ticket holder and a lover of the sport all round.

Alicia Dale has helped lead Women of Colour and the Beautiful Game in Manchester since May 2023; As an avid football fan from a young age, Alicia currently plays in two grassroots teams: the Beautiful Gamers FC, part of the 9-aside FA Flexi-League and 50 Shades of Green, part of the 7-aside Alternative Football League.
