Young apprentice wins iPad with Backing Young Bury

One young man is off to a flying start as an apprentice by winning an iPad in a competition run by Backing Young Bury.

The prize draw was organised to encourage young people to sign up to the National Apprenticeship Service website, which supports apprenticeships throughout England and is responsible for increasing the number of apprenticeship opportunities. People who sign up can find out what apprenticeships on offer, and receive tips to help their career and online support.

Backing Young Bury is a Bury Council initiative to help the borough’s young people improve their chances of training, work experience and employment. For more details, email backingyoungbury@bury.gov.uk

The winner of the iPad was Michael Burdaky (aged 18) from Ramsbottom, who is currently undertaking an advanced apprenticeship in the Bury area with a local architect’s firm. A thrilled Michael stated that the NAS website is “very good and easy to use” and was an invaluable tool in the search for a suitable apprenticeship.

To search for an apprenticeship opportunity, register at the National Apprenticeship website http://www.apprenticeships.org.uk/
