Young people invited to explore their future at the Bury Careers Event

Parents, carers and students in Years 10 and 11 are invited to the Bury Careers Event on Wednesday 24 September.

Organised by Connexions, it takes place at Castle Leisure Centre in Bury and runs from 3.30pm to 7pm.

With more than 50 exhibitors confirmed including colleges, universities, apprenticeship providers, the Armed Forces and local employers, the event is a fantastic opportunity for young people to explore their post-16 and post-18 options.

The event is free to attend, open to all, and provides a chance for families to get impartial information about the wide range of opportunities available in education, training and employment.

This year’s event comes at a time when the Department for Education has strengthened statutory guidance, ensuring that every student is supported in making well-informed choices about their future.

Councillor Lucy Smith, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “There has never been more choice for young people finishing their GCSEs, but we know it can feel overwhelming. The Bury Careers Event brings together colleges, apprenticeship providers, training organisations and employers all under one roof, making it easier for students and their families to see what’s on offer.

“Whether you’re considering an apprenticeship, looking at A-levels or exploring alternative routes, there will be friendly advisors ready to help you take those next steps with confidence.”

No booking is required — simply turn up on the evening. Careers advisors from Connexions and training providers will also be available for one-to-one guidance.
