Every department and every vessel must be a flagship

Press release -

Every department and every vessel must be a flagship

The ’Ambitions by Function’ and ’Ambitions by Vessel’ projects were introduced in 2014 and 2015 respectively to help all departments within the shipping company to set goals for their work.

These goals were to be both long term and short term goals – and departments were encouraged to make their targets high:

“It is important that we all share ambitions for each vessel and for each department. We might not reach our goal this year or next year but a common goal and well described ambitions give people something to aim for at work and help us all to become even better,” says Managing Director, Søren Nørgaard Thomsen:

“We can clearly see that vessels where leaders and crew have discussed ambitions for their vessel deliver more on several levels. They are happier in their work, production and maintenance is better, safety performance is improved and communication between crew changes is stronger,” he says.

Work on formulating ambitions and the action plans linked to them for both vessels and departments will ensure that all departments on land and all vessels in the fleet play their part in driving the shipping company in the same direction and strengthening the ESVAGT Standard.

“Every department and every vessel must aim to be the best in ESVAGT; a flagship. This ambition will drive us forwards – vessel, department and company,” says Søren Nørgaard Thomsen.
