Over £1,000 raised for the Bradley Lowery foundation

The inspirational story of six-year old Bradley Lowery from Blackhall Colliery touched the hearts of people nationwide and his death was felt deeply across Go North East.

In the spirit of the slogan ‘cancer has no colours’, synonymous with Bradley’s fight, the Sunderland mascot’s family requested local people and businesses, who were unable to attend Bradley’s funeral, wore football shirts and made a £1 donation to the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

In respect of the youngster who always had a smile on his face and, his devoted family, team members across our divisions and depots came to work on Friday 14 July wearing their team strips.

All donations, which included a contribution from our charity fund, have been collected and paid to the Bradley Lowery Foundation and we’re pleased to have raised over £1,000. Our thanks go to all those team members who got involved and donated and to all our passengers who helped spread the fundraising message, by interacting with our drivers.

At the age of 18 months, Bradley was diagnosed with the rare cancer, neuroblastoma which affects babies and children. After battling the condition for two years and going into remission, his cancer returned in July 2016. He sadly lost his fight on July 7^th.

All funds raised by the Bradley Lowery Foundation will help support other families affected by cancer. Donations can still be made on the Bradley Lowery’s Fight Justgiving page – and over £300,000 of the £500,000 target has already been raised.
