Southern has released details of the service it plans to run during the RMT’s planned two-day strike this week (September 7 and 8). This latest industrial action from the RMT takes place the same week that Southern reinstates over a third of the train services that had earlier been removed from its timetable.

ustomers of Southern Railway today received some much-needed good news with the announcement that the train operator will reinstate 119 train services back into its timetable next Monday (5th September).
Great Northern and Thameslink have beefed up their security at stations and on-board rail services by introducing a team of 22 rail enforcement officers (REOs) with almost as many Special Constables working across the entire Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) network that also includes Southern and Gatwick Express.
GTR, owner of Southern Trains, has urged the RMT to call off their planned 2-day strike (planned for September 7 and 8) and get back round the table to find a solution to their “futile” industrial action.

Southern staff have chosen Eastbourne based charity Embrace, as their new corporate charity, and have made a donation of £886 to start get the fundraising ball rolling.
Sutton Nightwatch, a charity which supports the homeless, has benefited from over £700 as a result of votes by Southern staff.
A group of seven young people from the West Kent Extra ‘House’ youth club in Edenbridge, youth workers and a volunteer artist, have added some superb artwork to Edenbridge station as part of a summer holiday project.
