New welcome to Edenbridge station thanks to youth club

A group of seven young people from the West Kent Extra ‘House’ youth club in Edenbridge, youth workers and a volunteer artist, have added some superb artwork to Edenbridge station as part of a summer holiday project.

The group, who were supported by artist/project leader Graham Upton, worked on the design over the course of three days, following the fantastic underpass painting at Edenbridge Town station they undertook in 2015.

Sussex Community Rail Partnership's Sharon Gray, who supported the introduction of the work, said: "If you are able to see this art in the flesh please do so as it is very difficult to get an idea of the scale and how beautiful it is from a photo. To the left the sign directs you to London and Gatwick, to the right it directs you to Tonbridge (thus the castle) and the coast, with the Southern train in the middle. I am reliably informed that the artwork in the underpass at Edenbridge Town, which was undertaken last year, is now a stand-alone visitor attraction with people going to the station specifically to see/photograph it, so this new master piece can be added to the list of attractions in the town."
