Rail operator Thameslink is supporting community Covid vaccination campaigns by making space available for free in its station car parks at Harpenden and Elstree for drivers giving lifts to the elderly and vulnerable arriving for their jabs - and for volunteers and staff.
Station car parks are mostly empty because people are heeding government lockdown advice to stay at home where possible. The
Network Rail will be closing two of the four lines in the Salfords area (near Gatwick) on three days this weekend to secure the railway embankment to prevent a landslip. A reduced train service will operate and passengers are being asked to check before travelling.
