Amazon Deliveries On Track for Thameslink and Great Northern Passengers

Travellers that use the Thameslink and Great Northern routes can look forward to better convenience when it comes to online shopping, with the roll-out of even more Amazon Hub Lockers by Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR).

In summer of this year, the train company installed 84 lockers across its Southern route as part of a new collaboration with Amazon to make life easier for busy customers. It now has over 100 lockers in the ground, with more to come in 2021.

Morden South, South Merton and Sutton Common were the first Thameslink stations to receive Amazon Hub Lockers; with Hitchin and St Neots following suit on the Great Northern route. The project means customers can safely and securely pick up their Amazon parcels whilst passing through their usual station – making online shopping part of the journey, quickly and easily.

GTR’s Commercial Director, David Gornall, said: “We’re working hard to bring Amazon Hub Lockers to Thameslink and Great Northern before the end of the year. Demand for online shopping soared as a result of the pandemic and is only set to continue, which is why we’re further supporting our busy customers with the opportunity to pick-up Amazon parcels on-the-go – perfect for last minute Christmas shopping!”

Doug Gurr, Country Manager for Amazon.co.uk, said: “Amazon will go where our customers are and deliver where and when they need us. Rolling out Amazon Hub Lockers with Govia Thameslink Railway is a great opportunity to provide a seamless shopping and delivery experience for our joint customers.”

Shipping to an Amazon Hub Locker at a Govia Thameslink Railway station is easy, secure and available at no additional cost. During checkout, customers will select a Locker at their chosen train station as their shipping address. Once their package is ready for pickup, customers will receive an e-mail along with a barcode that they’ll be able to scan at the locker, allowing for a contactless way to pick up their package.
