Network Rail apology for disruption

Network Rail has issued the following apology after this morning's disruption.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “During overnight engineering work, Network Rail contractors damaged overhead line equipment near Welywn North station after they struck it with a crane. This affected trains this morning as no services were able to run through the area.

“Network Rail engineers visited site and carried out work to repair the equipment. Both lines have now re-opened to trains, however residual delays are expected until early afternoon.

“We’d like to apologise to anybody who has been disrupted as a result of this incident.”
