Thornton Heath welcomes new-format one-stop-shop WHSmith

Govia Thameslink Railway’s (GTR) Thornton Heath station is host to a new WHSmith store, providing a convenient one-stop-shop for travellers.

The store, the first of a new format for the global retailer, features a tailored range of newspapers, magazines, food and drinks, alongside a selection of travel essentials, including health and beauty products and tech accessories.

Local resident Carol Thompson, already a regular customer, said: “It’s so good to see a shop open here again. It’s very useful and convenient for me, and there’s an excellent range of magazines, even better than bigger shops in the area.”

WHSmith’s Business Development Manager for UK Rail, Chris Welch, said: “Thornton Heath is an ideal location to introduce a smaller format store, providing a great range of products that appeal to travellers on the move.

“Together with GTR, we have created an enticing one-stop-shop convenience store and we very much look forward to welcoming customers. We look forward to continuing to work with GTR as we explore additional opportunities to launch this new format.”

Rovin Vaz, GTR’s Business Development Manager, added: “We are delighted that WHSmith will be opening this new format store to enhance Thornton Heath station. This is a fresh, high-quality outlet and we believe our passengers will enjoy the convenience and ambience. We look forward to working further with WHSmith to accommodate more stores of this kind across our network to help improve the facilities our stations offer to our passengers.”
