    Hitachi Rail Europe Ltd. today celebrated the completion of the external building envelope at its Stoke Gifford Train Maintenance Centre currently under construction in South Gloucestershire, near Bristol. The brand-new facility will support and maintain the Class 800/801 trains the company is delivering through Agility Trains for the DfT Intercity Express Programme (IEP).

  • Hitachi Wins an Additional Order for 16 Tilting Rail Cars for Limited Express Service from the Taiwan Railway Administration of Taiwan

    ​Tokyo, Japan, January 9, 2015 --- Hitachi, Ltd. (TSE: 6501, “Hitachi”) today announced that it has won an additional order for 16 TEMU1000 tilting rail cars (two train sets) for a limited express service from the Taiwan Railway Administration (“TRA”) of Taiwan. The rail cars are to be delivered within the 2015/16 financial year, and scheduled to enter service from June 2016 onwards.

    Hitachi, Ltd. announced today that it has begun shipment of the first completed pre-series Class 800 train unveiled in November 2014. The train has been produced for the UK Department for Transport’s Intercity Express Programme (IEP), and following its recent completion is now being shipped from Kasado Works in Kudamatsu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.

  • Hitachi Rail Europe Selects Six Law Firms as Formal Legal Panel

    Hitachi Rail Europe announced today that it has selected six firms to form its first legal panel for an initial period of two years. Following a competitive tender process, the panel comprises: Addleshaw Goddard LLP, Ashurst LLP, DLA Piper UK LLP, Eversheds LLP, Shoosmiths LLP and Stephenson Harwood LLP.

  • Hitachi secures contract to upgrade the Sentosa Express with its internationally-certified Wireless Signaling System (CBTC)

    Hitachi, Ltd. announced that it has secured a S$30million (2.7billion yen) contract with Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) through Hitachi Asia Ltd. to enhance the capability of the Sentosa Express light rail system, with a new Wireless Signaling System (CBTC*1) and another train set (comprising two carriages). The enhancement will enable the Sentosa Express to cater to more passengers.

    Hitachi announced today that it has unveiled the first train being manufactured for the UK Department for Transport’s Intercity Express Programme (IEP). The order for these new trains was received back in July 2012 and the first pre-series models are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014. They will then be shipped to the UK for test operations in the first half of 2015.

  • Hitachi Rail Europe Celebrates Topping Out of its Train Factory, Announces Establishment of UK Design Office in Newton Aycliffe

    Hitachi Rail Europe celebrated the completion of the building envelope of its Rail Vehicle Manufacturing Facility in Newton Aycliffe. During the event, Keith Jordan announced that Hitachi had also established its UK Design Office in the new facility. The Design Office will initially comprise of 12 staff, with four Design Engineers already on board and more roles advertised on the Hitachi website.
