Lindab Scotland Golf Day 2022

The second Lindab Golf Day of the year was upon us as we played host to customers and suppliers at the beautiful Deer Park Golf and Country Club in Livingston, Scotland. On the morning of the Ryder Cup style tournament, players met in the clubhouse mostly in blue or white shirts proudly represent their team, ready to get out on the course but not before enjoying a pre-game breakfast and taking the opportunity to eye up their competition!

The day started simply with a 100 yards challenge to get things going. One swing, one chance, 100 yards. With an impressive 99.9 yards, Alan McDougal of FES took the prize. It was clear to see, with such strong performance from the off, it was going to be a great day of golf!

Jon Getchell, Lindab Glasgow Branch Manager and organiser of the event, began the game with a stunning drive straight down the fairway. With the teams well on their way, there was some excellent displays of golfing around the course and even better, still not a raindrop in sight, but that’s not to say we didn’t find players in bunkers or routing through bushes between trees!

As the teams gradually came in from the 9th, we had refreshments to keep the energy up. The next hole was an important one, the big prize. The chance to win a Vauxhall Grandland X and it was only a hole-in-one away. Could it be this year? Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, though we were the closest it’s ever been! Andy Brown of RGM Vent raised the bar high with a stunning drive, heading straight for the pin but unfortunately was a little short. There was however still lots to play for.

The wind began to pick up in the afternoon making it a little challenging for the players with people teeing off and then having to chase their ball across onto a different fairway- or again, in the dreaded trees and bushes! After what had been a very sunny and bright day, when the final team were coming in to finish, the sky got surprisingly dark. In perfect timing, as the final shot of the day was taken, the rain began to fall prompting a quick dash for the clubhouse!

While the scores were calculated, we prepared for a lovely dinner and prize ceremony. There was lots of talk about how everyone played and where the weaknesses fell throughout the game with some holes being more difficult than expected. The anticipation was high as Jon and Lindab Managing Director, Iain Robertson, began the prize ceremony. Time to find out who had done well and which team would take the Linder Cup? Along side Jon and Iain the sponsors proudly presented our 2022 winners.

We finished the evening with some fun on the bowling lanes and our now traditional game of killer pool.

Once again we would like to take the opportunity to thank our sponsors, players, spectators and the team at Deer Park for a truly tremendous day.
