Cyclist from Halewood sadly dies following collision with car

Merseyside Police can sadly confirm that Anthony (Tony) Cope, 39, of Halewood who was injured after he was involved in a collision with a car whilst riding his bike has since passed away as a result of his injuries.

Tony, who was described as an “amazing dad, partner, son, brother and friend” who “loved cycling and carp fishing” passed away in hospital on Monday (18th March).

A 21-year-old man, also from Halewood, who was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and serious injury by dangerous driving, has been released under investigation.
