Police appeal for witnesses to fatal collision on Kennington Park Road

Met police detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward following a fatal road traffic collision in Lambeth.

At 10:56hrs on Wednesday, 29 April officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended Kennington Park Road, SE11 following reports of a serious collision involving a lorry and cyclist.

The cyclist, a woman in her 20s, was treated by paramedics at the scene. Sadly despite their efforts, she died shortly after their arrival. Her next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant James Moody, of the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command, said: “Our thoughts remain with the young woman’s loved ones at this incredibly distressing time.

“Though we have made an arrest it is vital we try to build up a full picture of this incident. We are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any relevant information to come forward and speak to police - particularly anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage.”
