Get involved in NUS by: Liam Burns

If you've ever thought that NUS is not for people like me - we need you.

If you have never been attracted to student politics or don't think you'd like getting involved, think again. What do you care about?

What could be better? What are the things that could improve your life? If you can answer these questions and if you are a current student we need you.

Across the year NUS hosts conferences to enable different students from across the country to get together and discuss what is important to them. They meet other students and learn about organisations, activities and campaigns that could enhance their life. Then after all that, they recognise some of their peers who have completed some impressive achievements at an awards ceremony and get to meet lots of other students too.

The National Union of Students host a number of events like this over the year to get involved you need to contact your students' union. Some future events include:

  • 13- 15 March NUS Women's Conference
  • 19-21 March NUS Disabled Students Conference
  • 30 March - 1 April NUS LGBT Conference
  • 19-20 May NUS Black Students

We need people like you to tell us what is important and lead what we should be doing.

See how involvement in the student movement can positively influence your life.

  • Why NUS is Calling on students to say 'I Am The Change' by: Liam Burns

It's very easy for a college or university student to feel unable to change things. They may feel like an insignificant onlooker when it comes to big issues such as global politics, social inequality and racism, or even when it comes to comparatively 'small' issues such as student housing, bursaries and career guidance.
