HTC Legend Joins T-Mobile Alongside the HTC Desire

The HTC Legend is experiencing a very quick network rollout with the newest operator to pick up this latest Android phone being T-Mobile, the Legend was originally launched on Vodafone a couple of weeks ago which was followed by a network launch by Orange, this latest release means there are even more tariffs to choose from for consumers.

The new HTC Legend take son a similar manufacture process to the HTC made Google Nexus One phone with both models being manufactured from a single piece of aluminium, this provides durability as well as an attractive finish to the phones.

The new Legend has joined the recently introduced Desire from HTC's new line-up of Android phones, the HTC Legend is a slightly smaller model which will fit pockets more comfortably with its 3.2 inch touch screen as opposed to the larger 3.7 inch AMOLED screen of the Desire.

Both phones offer a high quality 5.0 mega pixel camera with flash as well as the latest version of the Android operating system v2.1 which is also found on the Nexus One. The most noticeable difference has to be in the exterior design with the new Legend taking a similar design point to the phone that it has upgraded, the HTC Hero.

What has commonly become known as the 'chin' design which relates to the bottom of the phone being angled towards the user not only makes for clearer calling quality by bringing the microphone closer to the users mouth but also acts as a protective element to the main touch screen. When the user sets the phone face down on a surface the 'chin' stops the screen from touching and being scratched.

Also incorporated into the Legend handset as in the HTC Desire is the new FriendStream software, this pools together the users friends activities from social network websites, text messages and email and organises them into an application that produces a constant stream in information updates keeping the user informed of all of their friends activities.

The HTC Legend faces competition from both other Android phones such as the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro phones as well as the budget Samsung Galaxy Portal and LG GW620. There is also stiff competition from non Android handsets such as the Nokia X6, Sony Ericsson Vivaz and new Samsung Wave which all offer similar sized dimensions and touch screens although the new S8500 Wave does offer the new Super AMOLED screen technology.

T-Mobile are the third network to pick up this new Android handset with more confirming they will be releasing it over the coming days, there is also a planned launch as a SIM Free phone as well as that all important Pay As You Go launch which will satisfy those not wanting to commit to a long term contract deal.
