​Labour retain Besses ward in by-election

Lucy Smith retained Besses ward for Labour in today’s (Thursday 19 July) Bury Council by-election which was held following the resignation of councillor Elizabeth FitzGerald.

The result in full:

  • Glyn Harvey Heath (Green Party)……55
  • Jordan Lewis (Conservative Party)…..708
  • Gareth Lloyd-Johnson (Liberal Democrats)…..71
  • Stephen Morris (English Democrats)……72
  • Lucy Smith (Labour)…..999
  • Michael Zwierzanski (UK Independence Party)……49
  • The turnout was 23.6%. The line-up on Bury Council remains at: Labour 31 seats, Conservatives 17, and Liberal Democrats 3.
