Ski Scandinavia doubles the capacity of its winter charters to Scandinavian Mountains Airport in Sälen/Trysil

British charter operator Ski Scandinavia is doubling the capacity of its winter charters to Scandinavian Mountains Airport from 11 February 2023. It is operating direct flights from Gatwick to Sälen/Trysil ("the heart of skiing”) on Saturdays. The venture builds on the positive experience gained last year, when the partnership was launched with a few trial flights.

“We’re delighted to announce these charters and our partnership with Ski Scandinavia. This will be a key sector for us in the future and it will be very interesting to see how Londoners respond to this opportunity to fly direct to us, since we know they love our beautiful mountains, snow and winter sports,” says Gunnar Lenman, CEO of Scandinavian Mountains Airport.

“The population base and the potential offered by the London area, combined with uniquely short transfer times to the ski resorts and a first class, family alpine skiing product, give us a really good starting point,” he continues.

“We firmly believe the UK will be an important market in the future and hope this partnership will give even more of its people the chance to come and see us to discover memorable mountain experiences both in Sälen and Trysil,” says Mathias Lindstrom, Commercial Director at SkiStar, operating the two largest ski resorts in the area, SkiStar Sälen and SkiStar Trysil.

“We are delighted to see the resorts in this incredible ski region come together with us to promote holidays for UK guests. As well as being the most easily accessed ski region in Europe with a great range of skiing for all abilities, our local suppliers and partners offer our guests world leading hospitality making the region the most welcoming and friendliest place to ski anywhere”, says Ben Nyberg, Managing director of skiScandinavia.
