SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället will now welcome its first guests and visitors looking for an international alpine experience. A family resort close to the slopes that offers every conceivable amenity, opportunity and world-class dining experiences – all under the same roof and with skiing and experiences of nature right outside the door. The SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället opens on 12 December 2021.
The cold bites in the Scandinavian mountains during the week, which is particularly favourable for the snow production and to get high quality conditions for good alpine skiing. Winter is finally here and on December 3 SkiStar’s destinations in both Lindvallen, Sälen, Åre, as well as Trysil and Hemsedal in Norway will open for this year's winter season.
This December, restaurateur and entrepreneur Pontus Frithiof and Thomas Dahlstedt with restaurant group Nordrest, will grace the alpine world with two new restaurants and an impressive bar at SkiStar's new state-of-the-art resort in Sälen - SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället.

We end a year in which we have delivered positive results, in the middle of an ongoing pandemic, with an extremely strong momentum in business development, acquisitions and divestments. All Swedish and Norwegian destinations remained open throughout the winter season with more new guests visiting us. However, the absence of foreign guests has had an adverse effect on our earnings.
With Sweden and Norway's widest and largest alpine skiing offer for all levels, SkiStar is reaffirming its role as the leading holiday tour operator for Scandinavia this winter. In addition to improvements to the ski systems, several new developments will be introduced, ranging from continuing digital solutions, the new SkiStar Lodge Hundfjället to investment in sustainable mountain destinations.
Skiing in the Scandinavian mountains gets even closer for the upcoming winter season as SAS launches their route from London Heathrow to Scandinavian Mountains Airport on December 26th.

As part of SkiStar's work to consolidate its position as the leading holiday tour operator for Scandinavia, the company is now taking a new approach to hotel development in the Scandinavian mountains. SkiStar will operate six lodges and hotels at the company's destinations. The investment is made possible by increasing the pace of real estate development as the company has today agreed with Peab.
On 2 May, the last two of SkiStar’s destinations, Åre in Sweden and Hemsedal in Norway, closed for the winter season, a season which was historic in many ways as the company succeeded in staying open all winter, offering a total of 150 days of skiing. The focus has been on the safety of all guests, employees and residents of the ski resorts, along with good snow conditions and good service.
The strong trend in Scandinavia of active mountain holidays all year round with family and friends is here to stay. To strengthen its position as the leading holiday tour operator for Scandinavia, SkiStar has decided to sell its shares as majority owner of the ski resort St. Johann in Tirol in Austria. The buyer is the Austrian family company Schultz Gruppe, which operates several ski resorts.
