Brave the Brussels....

Since December how now descended and the festive season is upon us, it’s time to indulge in Brussel Sprouts – it’s their time to shine, we are going to share some tips with you to help you spruce up your sprouts. Some people love them and we know that lots of people hate them but hopefully all of you will be having at least one this Christmas, it is tradition after all!

We have a few quick ideas which will help you spruce up your sprouts this Christmas and hopefully encourage your friends and family to indulge in more than just the one this year:

1.Toss them in butter, simple yet effective

2.Once cooked, in a large pan stir in some cream or cream cheese with seasoning to create the perfect, rich, vegetable side dish

3.Chop and fry some Bacon, add the Brussels and simply season to taste

4.Roast them in the oven with some oil and seasoning until they are golden and crispy

5.Sauté in a pan with Onions, Garlic and Seasoning

6.If you have a sweet tooth then pan fry them with brown sugar until caramelised and coated

7.Another one for the sweet tooth, drizzle with maple syrup and either pan-fry or roast to glaze them

8.Cut the Brussels up into smaller pieces and toss in loads of Raisins – serve hot or as a cold salad

9.Chestnuts, another great festive favourite, roast the two together in the oven with some Garlic and seasoning then serve.

10.Do something completely different and shred the Brussels, allow them to cool and turn them into a dazzling side salad. Whether you add Apple, Honey and Mustard or Bacon and Mayonnaise – work with your taste-buds and try a few out.

11.Top with some toasted flaked Almonds

12.If your guests are still not keen to indulge in a Brussel then blend them to make a puree to decorate your festive plates

If you follow some of our ideas you might just get away with disguising your Brussels and tempting your guests with these slightly different variations on the Christmas classic – particularly with the cold salads... Enjoy!
