Samantha Mitchell from Camborne in Cornwall has signed up to the Bournemouth half marathon in October in memory of her Dad who passed away five years ago after a stroke. Samantha who turns 50 this year wanted to do something to celebrate her birthday and raise money for the Stroke Association.
Morwhenna Woolcock, 40, from Bristol has just completed an epic adventure travelling from the Brecon Beacons to Morwenstow following (roughly) in the footsteps of the 5th century Saint Morwenna. Stroke survivor Morwhenna completed the 177 mile adventure travelling by bike, boat, and on foot in just 21 days.
A play set in the West Country, Unearthed, will be helping to raise awareness of the impact of stroke during Action on Stroke month. The Production from Folio Theatre will be touring across the South West throughout the month of May.
The Stroke Association today launches a new initiative to help more people affected by stroke receive emergency medical treatment. The charity is calling for people across the South West to support the FAST Forward campaign by learning the signs of a stroke and sharing the message to help save more lives.
