#runneroftheweek - The Burns Brothers

This band of brothers are sticking together to take on 13.1 miles in this year's Great North Run. 

Mic, Dan and Luke will all be lacing up to hit the ground running in the hope of raising hundreds of pounds for us after we supported Luke and his partner, Zoe, three years ago. 

Luke's daughter, Layla, was admitted to the RVI when she was eight-months-old to be treated for viral meningitis.  Luke and Zoe live over an hour away from the RVI so we gave them a room in Crawford House for two weeks. 

This is the second time Luke and Mic will be running the famous Newcastle route, but it will be a first for Dan - who is flying all the way over from Sweden for it. 

When speaking to the brothers, Mic told us his top running tip: 

"Make sure you train, don't leave it until the last minute!"
