    Funding announced to encourage more people to cycle to their local railway station

    Over £740,000 is being spent on improving cycle facilities at London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway stations across the network. The Department for Transport has awarded the train operators £371,000 of funding through their Cycle Rail programme, representing around 6% of the total awarded nationally. This is being match funded to help deliver an extensive improvement programme.

    ​West Midlands Railway joined other local transport providers, politicians, health advisers and members of the public in Birmingham city centre yesterday (Thursday 20 June) for Clean Air Day 2019.     Passengers at Crewe station now have access to a new waiting room, specifically designed to offer those with hidden disabilities a safe and calm environment. The Calm Corner is the first of its kind on the rail network, brought to life through the work of train operators at the station, Network Rail and advice from a number of partner charities.

    Members of Scouts Bromsgrove have been celebrating their Cross City Heroes win. Children from the group took a trip on the Cross City Line over the weekend (Sat 9 June) to take a look at their plaque, ahead of it’s permanent display at Barnt Green station this summer.

    Cash left on trains and at stations operated by London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway will now be donated to charity.     Jewellery Quarter BID becomes the first Business Improvement District in the UK to adopt a station

    A new community group led by the Jewellery Quarter Business Improvement District (JQBID) aims to bring a new lease of life to the Jewellery Quarter Station. Through a range of projects and activities and with support from West Midlands Railway, the group has set out to improve the attractiveness of the station, making it a more welcoming and friendly place for visitors, residents and workers.
